Below the line not on it! Argh! She doesn't travel for a while, should I replace it or will it be OK? Going to South Africa. What a numpty !!!

What did the passport office suggest?

ChicCroissant · 24/01/2020 16:14

I worried about this because my DD had to sign her own passport last year for a school trip! Over age 12 you have to sign the passport itself in pen (definitely not printed on at all and the instructions are quite specific). DD did sign in roughly the right place though.

Passport office said that it is valid but they can't guarantee that it won't lead to questions by any border forces ( UK / world wide). I think that it is highly unlikely it would do BUT it's a chance I'm not prepared to take ( or frankly would be able to stop worrying about even if logically I know it's fine!) as she's travelling without me so I'm getting a replacement.

Wow really? I literally can’t imagine being concerned enough to get a replacement especially since they aren’t cheap. You must have the money though to be fair.

Or maybe realises that the passport office admin staff in London don't have jurisdiction over border staff?
