Can any regular visitors to Greece recommend a destination for a holiday in May/June? Looking for something quiet and relaxed with those gorgeous white beaches and turquoise sea!

Its so difficult as like any place it has something for every one. We have been to the following.
Rhodes Has everything busy and tranquil
Katakolon see below
Athens Very Busy
Piraeus Busy
Santorini Just stay out of the main towns, its mental when the cruise ships dock
Kefalonia touristy
Corfu Something for everyone
Kefolonia is the quietest, but one of the most tranquil places we have ever been is near Katakolon on the main land.

Thankyou funf that's really helpful. I have been looking at Kefalonia . Booking holidays is not my strong point having only been abroad once. My dd - 22 loves travelling so may be able to help me.

I have been to Lindos in Rhodes and Agios Nickalos in Crete. Lindos is one of the nicest places I have ever been. So picturesque and the food was amazing.

Just make sure you have a credit card and insurance incase of emergencies the rest is easy

parrotfashionista · 22/01/2020 20:01

For the traditional old Greece Lefkas /Lefkada looks really interesting (I've not been though! Grin).

Another vote for Lindos - stay in the village - it does get really busy though so may not be quite what you're looking for....

Crete is great, tons of character fab food and people - just a few hot spots to avoid in the eastern end. Corfu is so lovely but getting spoiled by over-tourism - so much building. Nature stands no chance. I vowed to stay away as I felt like part of the problem - unless there's more eco friendly initiatives these days?

We are heading to Elounda in Crete this Easter. Several people have recommended it and it looks beautiful. I can't wait to visit the ruins at Knossos and to get the boat to Spinalonga ( I loved The Island, which is set here).

in order of where we have been - starting with best
Paxos our favourite but only problem is stony beaches but go across to anti - paxos for sand
Koufanisia- tranquil and lovely beaches and boats - sandy - small
Corfu- good mixture if u stay out of tourist resorts
Santorini
Mykonos
Cephalonia

Pelion. It's in central Greece, Larissa, I think. It's a peninsula with a lovely wooded interior, beautiful traditional houses, and gorgeous beaches. It's about 4 hours drive from Athens or you could take the train up to the main city, Volos from where you can also go to the Sporades, eg Skiathos. Just a bit different,
