Kenya in July

We want to spend around three weeks in Kenya in the summer. One week will be spent with family who live just outside Nairobi. We would like to also spend some time on the coast and go on a safari. Children are 12 and 13. We would prefer to do the safari in the Masai Mara. Please tell me of any recommendations

It’s a great time to visit and it will be the wildebeest migration in the Mara in July. This makes it very expensive. Any decent lodge in the park, if they have vacancies, will be priced at high season. The ones near the Mara River will be expensive. We have stayed at Governors and Little Governors. Also the Mara Explorer and also Mara Intrepids which is great for younger DC.

It’s a great park and you will see wonderful wildlife. I think the lion population is going down but we have seen quite a lot of other animals there. The large herds of animals are impressive.
