Bedgebury is holding a Christmas 'Lapland UK' Experience

... covering a part of the forest with fake snow, Christmas village, Raymond Briggs 'The Snowman' ride, Father Christmas visit, mulled wine to fortify parents, reindeer, husky dogs, trumpeters and all sorts. I'm soooo excited. Er, for my children, obviously...

It's quite expensive though (I just paid £167 for a family of 5). Here is the link. And here is the itinery.

And it's selling out quite quickly.

Rah - your poor little boy, what a shame. i suggest all of us affected e-mail and write until we get decent explanations, although none of this compensates for the disappointment caused.

rah425 · 06/12/2007 22:11

I've already written a very snotty letter to them, not that it'll probably do any good, though if it means they sort out some sort of contingency for next years people then maybe it will. And am working on a Santa apology as we speak

Chigley1 · 06/12/2007 22:16

I keep expecting to see something about this in the press or on TV, there are a lot of cross people out there!

Hope your little boy feels better after his apology!

flustered · 06/12/2007 22:21

I wrote a long e-mail to them and this is the response I got.....
"Thank you for your constructive criticism and again sincerely apologise for disappointment caused".
Lapland UK
Has anyone actually got their refund yet because I haven't!!

flustered · 06/12/2007 22:22

There is something on news.bbc.co.uk

Chigley1 · 06/12/2007 22:39

Again what makes me angry is they didn't call us till after 12pm on the day we were due to visit, they only just caught us and I was already on my way to get my son from school. We knew the weather was going to be bad long before that why didn't they anyway going to log off now as I'm just getting more and more frustrated (and they don't have a smiley face for that)

CodRestYeMerryGentelmen · 06/12/2007 22:58

well fgs you lot hype up the kdis too much
haev you no sense?

foxythesnowman · 07/12/2007 11:32

Isn't that what you are meant to do at Christmas? 4 weeks of hype/stress/shopping then a row on Chrismas day?

hertsnessex · 07/12/2007 11:34

agree foxy.

we are hopfeully off to see him there next weekend - lets hope the weather is good.

honeyhoney · 07/12/2007 11:45

I have read a few pages........and have to agree with codrest...

foxythesnowman · 07/12/2007 12:29

well, lucky then we aren't here to judge each other then, just to get excited, disappointed, support, whinge and complain

foxythesnowman · 07/12/2007 12:33

by which I mean we can all vent on here, I'm not saying anyone's a whinger God knows I've been banging on about it enough...
oh, sod it, I'll get my coat....

honeyhoney · 07/12/2007 12:47

I thought this was about exciting and then disapointing children, sorry... I am not judging anyone, this trip to LL was a bit iffy from the start, so I have not told my children (hard) but I will wait and see what happens on the day

foxythesnowman · 07/12/2007 12:50

S'right, don't apologise. It IS a nice day out, but it is hard keeping it quiet isn't it?
I really do have better things to do than keep going on about it! honest!

rah425 · 07/12/2007 13:34

The only reason we told ours early and by early i mean Monday due to go Thursday, was because my eldest has a problem with his blood and had to have more bloodtests which he hates, and this was to take his mind of it. I don't normally agree with hyping them up, not that you can avoid it if they are school age and start their nativity play rehearsals in October. But we just wanted him to have a special treat and why shouldn't there be a bit of excitement at christmas, they're kids, and you are a long time grown up. Anyway still waiting on Lapland uk to respond to the e-mail I sent yesterday and as of yet have not received our refund either Chigley (if you are still reading this thread)

rah425 · 07/12/2007 13:36

sorry wasn't chigley who hadn't got refund but flustered must read things with more attention, obviously helps without a three year old on my knee helping to type, right i'm off to play

honeyhoney · 07/12/2007 14:28

Did I say children should not have any excitment at christmas? mine are whipped to a frenzy by the time it gets here...

cazzybabs · 07/12/2007 17:36

I got my invitation today!

lilyloo · 07/12/2007 18:29

Anyone know if this went ahead today ?
Also when / if they did call you was it as we are due to leave tom for a 5 hour drive to get there and am not sure whether it will even be open as forecast not great ?

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 07/12/2007 19:29

I told my children about it when we booked in August. It's been mentioned a couple of times since. This week I reminded them that we were going on Saturday but only if the weather was good. They're cool with that.

The eldest, aged 4 & 6, are so wrapped up in rehearsing their school play that Lapland is not top of their agenda. If we don't go there tomorrow, we'll do something else and have lunch out. They'll be very happy with that.

(Antidote to hyping your kids = don't take them very often and then they're happy with trip to shopping centre)

Definately give them a call before you leave.

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 08/12/2007 16:15

It was open. It was good - despite the rain! More later.

We went today as well, and in view of some of the more negative comments recently, I wanted to let you know that our 5 year old daughter had a wonderful, magical experience today, despite appalling weather! Seen through the eyes of a child it was fantastic, and her stunned silence and awe when faced with Father Christmas was the ultimate proof of how the magic really was created for her today.

Yes, there are minor niggles that need to be ironed out for another year, but the experience is wonderful and uncrowded, and long may it continue enchanting children.

shellsie · 09/12/2007 17:29

Hi,

Is Lapland UK any good? I would like to take my nieces next year. They will be 5 and nearly a year old by then.

Thanks.
