UAE half term travel

We've booked a family holiday in Abu Dhabi for Feb half term. Direct flights with Etihad and a direct booking with the hotel. Just wondering if others were in a similar situation and had any tips if events escalate further or even stay the same. Any specific insurance you can take out?

Would you still go? I know there are lots on here from the UAE so your thoughts are welcome too.

Thanks

Not in UAE but live next door - follow FCO travel advice as it's reviewed and updated regularly, you can subscribe to travel alerts to get the latest information, but really, it's unlikely anything would happen to UAE and if it did it would be a game changer for the way the GCC responds to Iran and I can't see Iran taking that risk.

Geopolitics aside, enjoy Abu Dhabi it's a quieter Emirate than Dubai, been a couple of times for work.

Thanks for your reassuring reply, I agree with your comments but you do get spooked by the media 😬. I might drop the hotel a line to see how their security etc is and just stick to there for the duration.

I understand. The media likes to analyse and catastraphise (is that a word?!) but I can assure you it's very much business as usual out here as we go about our lives. There is always a risk wherever you go and the ME understands this so please don't be put off if you get to your hotel and see x-ray machines or security staff in the lobby, it's quite normal here.

I hope you enjoy your holiday Smile

Thank you. I'm more than happy to see security staff around the hotel. Hopefully nothing else happens anyway.
