Where to spend Christmas in New Zealand

DH and I will be visiting New Zealand next December, and plan to meet our DS (who is living in Sydney at present) and our DD (who is planning to be travelling at that time).

It will obviously be lovely to get everyone together again.

We are a 'doing' family, and plan to explore the North Island whilst we are there together.

Would be grateful for any thoughts/ideas/experiences on what to do over the Christmas period. My initial thoughts are a lovely hotel that has great facilities, but would be open to any other ideas from anyone who knows NZ.

If staying in the North Island the Bay of Islands/keri keri area would be lovely but most of New Zealand is Awesome.

That's what I've heard nzborn - really looking forward to our visit.

I'll see what I can find around the Bay of Islands. Only just starting planning, but aware that we need to get sorted, with Christmas being so busy.
