Santorini

We're planning to visit Santorini for a week in April. Can anyone give me some recommendations on where to stay and what to do please. We'd like to be in a village, small town but large enough to give us a few restaurants to choose from and somewhere to potter. Also, must be on a bus route.

I stayed in Imerglovli on my honeymoon, small but a few restaurants and we would walk along the cliff paths to Fira for a wander or more restaurant choices. Amazing caldera views too. I didn't like Oia as I found it too crowded.

Oia is lovely and probably the most picturesque area but yes, it can be crowded, mostly with cruise ship passengers. May not be too bad in April. We stayed in Oia in a cave house down a quiet side street and it was fine, loads of nice restaurants and bars nearby. Would still rather than than anywhere else - I didn’t find there was much to do in Imerovigli and Fira isn’t anywhere near as charming.

I would vote imerovigli too, Nice walk to Fira, and the views are incredible. personally didn’t like Oia. You can catch a bus / get cab there easily though. We did a catamaran cruise that ended in oia which was nice.

stay on outskirts of Oia towards Fira- lovely to do the walk - where we stayed very tranquil but a 10 minute walk down to Oia town but with stunning views for bedrooms
