Best time to buy a package holiday

I'm hoping to go all inclusive to the Algarve late September. Haven't booked a package holiday since about 1989. Is there a best time to buy? I don't want to book it, pay a deposit then find next week it's dropped significantly in price! I've been saving like crazy but money is still tight. However, I'm determined to do AI!

We’ve just booked through First Choice, I think we ended up getting about £400 off after all the deals they have on at the moment. Also went through Quidco for about £100 cash back. I work in advertising for travel and January/February is definitely one of the best for discounting.

Brilliant, OK. I think I'll go into a travel agent to book it, I'm too scared I'll cock it up!
