Cycling and camping trip

Has anyone done a cycling/camping holiday? Looking for destination ideas , taking a bike over to Europe by ferry, happy to jump on a train from there.

Just looking for somewhere stunning really, not too bothered where, although the chance to dive in a lake or the sea is always welcome.

I'm not super fast but plan to get fitter. So as a guide 30 miles a day on varied terrain, further if it's flat. No DC, just adults.

We cycled from Paderborn to Delfzijl and then on to Amsterdam. This is along the Ems cycle route in the river valley and then round the coast. Didn't camp though - stayed in hotels.

Also cycled from Portsmouth to Whitby and camped some of it. Obviously that's in the UK where there are more traffic-free routes than you might expect (don't really enjoy cycling on roads).

It depends on what you want, the ardennes in Belgium are beautiful with slight hill climbs and lots of campsites, you could get the eurostar direct to Brussel and then train from there.

Holland is lovely and flat and very very bike friendly

Ardennes look brilliant! I have a friend to visit in Belgium so thinking I could combine that.

Thanks for all the tips!

We did the ferry to Isle of Wight with the bikes, then across to Guernsey, Jersey and from there to St Malo. We cycled across Brittany from St Malo to Roscoff and then got the ferry back. It was fabulous, would highly recommend! We camped almost everywhere, apart from 2 nights where we stayed in a gorgeous AirBnb in Langourla, which I can recommend if you decide to go that way!
