Where should I go in Feb?

Please help - first world problem warning Grin .

DP and I have a kid-free week at the end of Feb and have no idea where we should go to make the most of it.

We started off looking at Norway/Sweden etc thinking about dog sleds and midnight snowmobiles, but most of the places we've looked at are unavailable for our dates and quite pricey. We're also worried we're not fit enough to make the most of it, as trudging through snow is a bit like hard work Grin

We then went onto winter sun - Canaries, Cape Verde etc, and there are so many options, but basically we could go anywhere so there's just too much choice!

Last week of Feb, £1k each as a ballpark budget.

We love food, not especially active so big hikes etc are out, but a bit of walking is ok, like to lounge by a pool a bit, but also need something interesting to do.

We loved Cape Verde for quad biking and sunshine, Goa for beaches and food, have done NYC at that time of year, so would prefer to go back in summer next time. Canada is a possibility, but not sure what's must-see there.

If you've been away in Feb as a couple and had an amaaaaazing time, where did you go? Please help us narrow it down.

You don’t have enough of a budget for Canada. The flights will greatly eat into £1000 each. Canada is bloody cold in the winter!

I was going to suggest South Africa as the time difference is small but your budget is an issue there too. We have been to California in Feb but again your budget is a challenge.

How about Morocco or Egypt? Not sure you’ll have enough for the Caribbean but could you nudge it up a bit? Florida? Mexico?

BubblesBuddy · 30/12/2019 17:46

Forgot: Kenya would be ok in Feb. Also Sri Lanka. A few more ££££ needed though.

I love February holidays, here are the places I’ve been on these trips mostly with my DC but a couple without.
A few days in LA followed by a cruise to Mexico.
Dominican Republic x2
Dubai
Canary Islands.
Cape Town x2 (my favourite place in the world)
Prague, obviously not warm but such a good trip.
This coming February-Berlin.

Morocco - it's warm enough to sit out by the pool, but not too hot for any sightseeing. You could have a lovely trip to Marrakesh or Essaouira on your budget.

GiantKitten · 30/12/2019 18:25

We went to Marrakech/Essaouira at the end of Feb & the weather was miserable (& very strong winds on the coast too!)

I was going to suggest Sri Lanka. Weather’s always lovely somewhere, & nice accommodation/food is very cheap, even if flights cost more

Madeira is lovely in February - warm but not hot. Gorgeous scenery and lots of lovely walks.
Also no time difference and a relatively short flight.

amiw · 30/12/2019 18:45

Madeira was fab in feb! Agreed. We are going to cape verde this time so glad you liked it. Malta also nice in Feb

GiantKitten · 30/12/2019 19:37

Oh, forgot about Madeira! We went end of Jan this year & it’s just lovely Smile

Short flight, pleasant weather, good restaurants, lovely people. Funchal rammed with cruise ships midweek though

Short haul sun is difficult in February!

fairydustandpixies · 31/12/2019 09:23

Iceland! The Blue Lagoon, Golden Circle tour, northern lights...

Funf · 31/12/2019 10:01

Iceland or Foodie week in North wales or the Lakes.

SJaneS48 · 31/12/2019 15:02

How about going mid haul and going to Oman? Just had a quick look and there are flight & (nice) hotel deals going for around £6-700 each and the average temp will be 26 degrees compared to say 20 in Morocco so good for relaxing by the pool bit. It has a beautiful coastline in Muscat backed by mountains and they’ve not knocked everything of any historical interest down (pretty much unlike Dubai!). There are also day trips out to wadi’s, the desert and old fortified towns you can do.

Canada will still be absolutely freezing and the accommodation won’t be cheap. 2nd or 3rd Iceland but that will also be very very cold and it is pretty pricey once you get there. Very unusual and unique place though, if not typically picturesque!

Haven’t looked at prices but how about a weeks stay in Havana? Very unique city probably enjoyable more without DC! The food is pretty awful but other than that, great place with lots of crumbling Spanish colonial architecture, vintage cars etc.

We've been to Porto, Iceland, Lisbon and Paid for February holidays over the last few years and loved each of them but Iceland was the most special - the Secret Lagoon, the landscape, the cosy bars and cafes. It was wonderful and otherworldly.

bingohandjob · 31/12/2019 20:54

Paris, not Paid!
