Slovenia July/August

Hi

I'm wondering about Slovenia for a summer holiday but have a few queries.

Temperature-wise is it ok for hiking etc without totally melting?

Flights are easy, but will we need a car? I'm happy travelling by public transport but not sure how limited we would be. Has anyone driven from the uk? Is that a crazy idea (there's only me driving)?

Will we regret not having bikes with us? Everything I read suggests cycling would be good. When camping in France we cycle loads.

Accommodation seems reasonably pricey even for budget places, although campsites seem expensive too. How did you find prices?

Finally any tips/recommendations would be gratefully received!

We went end of july beg of august and it was very hot! Between 35-38 most days and we did walk in it and it was bearable but take plenty of water! We hired a car from the air port but we stayed at lake bled so wasnt in the main towny bits so no public transport. Its a beautiful place and fully recommend it - go and have fun xx

Some years ago we went to Kranska Gora in August.

It was just wonderful.
We rented a car for one day to drive down to Triestre and Skojan
we rented bikes two days to cycle into Italy and Austria
apart from that we walked and wombled to places like Planica
it was wonderful
and the hotel buffet was the best I can remember in Europe
