Kids will be 2,4 and 5, I'm looking for the perfect beach self catering house (aren't we all), for next summer, aiming to ferry then drive, pref. not too far from a port, anyone got any good links to appropriate web sites or even better, personal experience???

We considered this, and instead of the long ferry, we drove through France and arrived next day on the Costa Brava. May be worth considering for the weather,

Keycamp etc have campsites on both coasts and you can read reviews of the area on their sites.

We've been three times - get ferry from plymouth to santander then had various houses from 30 min to 2.5 hr drive from santander. We have just always picked from teh houses in the Brittany Ferries brochure, but they haven't lots of choice, however we've had 3 great hols from it.

I tried to have a look at the Brittany Ferries holiday properties online but you can't see them yet for next year, so I've asked them to send a brochure.

That's a heck of a drive, Milli?! How did you cope?

I run a little company with holiday cottages in the Asturias area (about 1 hour from Santander) and we're already taking bookings for 2008. Have a look at www.bluegreenspain.com for more info. The ferry to Santander is great if you're travelling with small children. I'd recommend that over the ferry to Bilbao, as that takes 2 nights and apparently it's quite full of hen and stag nights.
