Austria Mayrhofen summer with 7 year old

Looking at a week in Austria half board in Mayrhofen with OH and 7 year old DS. Is this a good location? I’m looking for gentle walks and some relaxing. Considering the Sport hotel which has a family spa and a reasonable deal with Tui. Any feedback welcome

A trip up the Hintertux where you can walk on a glacier is good. Train trip to the Achensee. A day out in Innsbruck is nice - there is a lovely zoo there. And in terms of gentle walks there is a well marked network of paths. I can't remember where exactly but Austria is good for having small children's playgrounds with flying foxes etc scattered around.

I've been to mayrhofen and stayed in sports hotel but it was 9 years ago and in December. Mayrhofen is lovely and I would go back. The hotel is ok. Food was lovely but I found the rooms very very basic.

Mrswalliams1 some of the trip advisor reviews do echo what you say about the hot. Apparently there is some upgrading going on but not all the rooms have been done...

We are staying a few miles outside Mayrhofen next summer in an Airbnb. We went to different location in Austria this summer and the kids loved it so we are trying a different location.
I found that it was much cheaper to book easyjet flights, an Airbnb and car hire. I hope Mayrhofen area is a good location, my kids wanted somewhere that had a 'coaster' (a sort of toboggan on a rail) as they really enjoyed going on them this summer, there is one in Zell am Ziller, up the valley from Mayrhofen.
We will be buying Zillertal Activcard so that we can use the cable cars and outdoor pools for free.
