Villa with a private pool

Looking for a villa with a private pool anywhere in Europe in summer holidays.

We are determined not to do a resort holiday again in the summer because we want to just relax by our own pool but I'm struggling to find anything that's sort of hotel standard inside but has its own private pool?

how many people is it for? would this one in Cyprus be large enough?

It depends how many it's for but look at villa ataboeira in Portugal with James Villas, stayed there in the summer and it was beautiful. Says it sleeps 14 on the James Villas site but think it actually slept 16/18.

We stayed here recently.

Only thing I didn't like was the bedding was sheets and blankets, but I suppose if you go in the summer, you wouldn't need the blankets, which is the bit I don't like at all.

Walking distance to Marina, supermarket, bars, restaurants, beach, private parking space, washing machine and dishwasher, barbecue. Lots of other things to do on Lanzarote - watersports, Cesar Manrique arty stuff, volcano park, caves, vineyards.

Depends how risk averse you are.

We have done a private villa with pool in Spain every summer, bar this last one (Brexit...) for 8 years. And ages of the DC.

We find the villa ourselves (OwnersDirect, usually); then find the flight, Flybe, local to us; Hire car last. Small SUV. Research which companies are scamming customers, avoid. And make a big song and dance about photographing the car when you pick it up; point out every scratch! We've not been caught out, yet.

Usually the villa people will hold the villa for 24 hours while you secure your flight. Remember to delete cookies from your PC so your flight doesn't rocket in price once they know you're interested.

The once we deviated from this was our least favourite holiday; Thomson in The Algarve (so not Spain!). Included hire car was a Fiat Panda; brochure evasive about air-con (struck a deal with the quite intrusive owner/pool guy who actually turned out OK- he was there often enough!).

It's always a risk. Review, review, review. Find the villa on multiple sites. Contact the owner early. I physically find the property on google earth and innocently message the owner so they know I know where the villa is! It's time consuming but the sense of achievement when you nail it .

So far, so good for us!

My family are very antisocial . A private villa with pool (and aircon bedrooms) absolutely works for us. We started with a last minute 7 days to Majorca, 8 years ago, after a washout of a camping trip to Dartmoor; the last was 14 days in the Altea Hills.

Not sure what your budget is but we have used this company twice before Holiday Garda. We stayed in Villa Desire - gorgeous villa with private pool and absolutely stunning views of the lake. You would need a car though.

this was the Majorca villa that converted us.

After that wet Dartmoor camping trip (I am talking deluge. Grass 12" high as they couldn't get the mower on it, buying wellies as we were all getting trench foot from having constantly wet feet; and one, single cold, August evening all week out socialising with our friends by the tents...)- And, seeing as we hadn't had a proper UK summer in 6 years, by that stage ...DH found this, 6 weeks out (thus falling in price). Matched by the airfare rising, tho!

We got there at midnight, found our way in, aircon on in the bedrooms, hit the sack.

Awoke the next morning at 9 to shuttered, cool darkness; I padded across the living room to the doors, threw them wide and SUN! BLUE SKY! GLITTERING POOL!

It Was Fantastic.

I would highly recommend Villa Linakis, in Arillas, Corfu. The villa is absolutely stunning, with everything you could need for a modern, high quality holiday. It has a private pool, bbq, outdoor pool bar and sleeps 6 plus a baby.

The location itself is beautiful, with a lot of interesting walks, beautiful beaches and great little restaurants, bars and local shops.

Definitely worth a look, as it's somewhere we return to, and always have a super holiday.

The owners are amazing offering a fast and extemely helpful communication throughout, making the whole holiday a really easy process. No question is too much trouble.

Would highly recommend to couples, families, old or young.

We stayed at this one in the Croatian hills owners live onsite, fresh water mountain spring you can get jugs of ice cold water from, lots of terraces so you can eat outdoors and a fancy barbeque fire cooker thing, aircon, lots of bathrooms, washing machine etc. Easy drive from airport (30 mins), easy drive into Dubrovnik (about an hour) and to coast (20mins) . It's five double bedrooms over two floors, swimming pool and mini football/ volleyball court.

Lovely village 10mins drive away with supermarket and butcher's.

We had one of the villas from this company last year in Cyprus. Really lovely, near a small resort for restaurants and amusing the kids, but also very peaceful.

This is our favourite so far but have stayed in 3 in the same area. Quiet, near harbour, away from bars but near enough if you fancy a big night.
