traveling to Central Asia

hi there,
since spotted some cheap tickets, decided to plan a small trip for spring. I always wanted to visit Stan countries. Not sure how it is safe in Pakistan now but Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan seems to be a wonderful destination, besides Tian Shan are mesmerizing (at least from the youtube videos). Has anyone been there? How you travelled around these countries? Did you rent a car or just used public transportation?

Have you investigated visas & their cost & how long the visas are valid for

Basically we don't need visa only for Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. But getting one wouldn't be a problem, and we have lots of time to apply for. My main concern was how we are going to travel between these countries but luckily there are low cost airlines like fly arystan or any other mentioned at lonely planet. Now we are just looking for apartments or guesthouses in booking.com
