Porto, where to stay?

We’ve just booked flights to go to Porto and wondering where’s best to stay? Beach, river or in the city? We’re taking dds 8 and 10 and they’re used to long walks and touring.
Any tips welcome, thanks

We stayed at the House Ribeira hotel which is one street back from the river and was lovely. Even got a welcome glass of port... at 9am. We walked to the coast but you can also get the tram. Loved Porto and some great restaurants

We’ve booked quite central and have decided we’re going to Lisbon for a few nights and booked centrally there too. My dh is like the wind and changes his mind constantly 🙄 so we’re travelling by train to Lisbon and having an adventure there too. Back to Porto New Year’s Eve to fly back New Year’s Day.
