Anyone been to San Sebastián?

Is it nice?

Yes. Been and loved it.

It is pretty sophisticated but not outrageously expensive. We were there mid week and the restaurants/cafes were full at lunch.

Lots to see and a tour bus you can use to get on and off for places. The architecture is beautiful

We were only there for a short period and definitely going back for a few days.

It is very Spanish but heavy basque influences. Tourists there but not dominating

Lovely place. Small and easy to walk around. Park in an underground car park, on street parking is difficult to find.

You must eat Pintxos and go to a decent bar where they will explain the process to you. Casa Vergara on Calle Mayor is very good.

You must also have a chocolate dipped ice cream from Loco Polo.

It's ok for a couple of days. I wasn't over impressed, bit dull.

Is it hugely expensive to stay in hotels?

DonaldTrumpsChopper · 10/12/2019 20:04

Not hugely expensive, you can get apartments at a reasonable price. There is a shortage of hotel rooms at certain times of year, though.

Are you hiring a car? Last time we went, we found an apartment online with underground parking.

Loved it there - it's one of my favourite places. Stayed in an AirBnb with two friends (roughly £24 each per night). It was around 100m from Zurriola beach where we had a couple of surfing lessons (Hard but great fun).

Every evening we walk stroll across to the old town stopping at La Ginoteria for an aperitif before gorging ourselves in the fantastic pintxos bars.

Did people find it interesting enough? I've heard several people say it's a bit boring compared to other Spanish cities.

Lovely place - beaches and a nice town and lots of nice bars and restaurants without being rowdy. Take the funicular up to the top for wonderful views. We were talking about it recently and said we would happily go again. We stayed in a basic little hotel on a square behind the front, ate breakfast at a bar on the corner along with locals and internal holiday makers. We had a car because we were there for 5 days as part of a longer trip - you don’t need one otherwise and the buses are good for getting around.

It's one of my fa, not sure why it would be boring? It's not a huge city but the beaches are great, lots of great places to eat and a great vibe. Plenty to explore in the surrounding area too.
