HELP! Passport confusion!

I've tried looking online but cannot seem to find information to answer this.

What I can find is that child passport can be use until it's expires even if you're over 18.
You can apply for adult passport 3 weeks before you are 16.

Here's the confusion I have!

Ds passport expires beginning of July. He is 16 end of august. Our holiday will be between these dates because of school holidays and gcse results.

So I assume I reapply for a child passport for him and it's valid for 5 years?

Yes, get the child one and it will be valid until it expires in 5 years

Yes I think so.

Thanks thought so. That seemed to make sense.

Although who knows what passports we'll be using this time next year anyway Wink
