Kenya Recommendations

Can anyone recommend a good Kenya itinerary or at least suggest a good safari camp they have been to? We have a 13 and 14 year old. We would fly to Nairobi and stay for a few days with friends in Nsivasha and would like to do a safari after then. I did Governor's Camp with my husband twenty years' ago but that may be a bit too grown up for the children. Ideally we would like to do a safari on the Masai Mara

We stayed at Olonana tented camp on banks of Mara. We really enjoyed that. We booked our trip through Audley Travel

We took our DDs to Governors when they were around 10 and 12. Your DC, as long as they love game drives and can amuse themselves between game drives, why not? It’s in a great location and our DDs had no problems there at all. It’s no more grown up than any other camp.

We have also stayed at the Mara Explora and that’s a step up in luxury. Again DC welcome. It’s by the Talek River and away from other camps, which we liked. Little Governors is also a step up from Governors.

As long as DC are well behaved and engaged, Governors is ideal. We made sure our DDs had cameras and helped with game spotting. DD saw a serval before the game spotter did! As a family you should get a vehicle to yourself so I would do it without hesitation because you have the best game areas all around at that camp and the airstrip.
