We are staying at caravan for a few days at Gatehouse of Fleet. Dcs are 5 & 8, any suggestions as to what to do in the area? (inside & out!)
Thanks

We used to go to Creetown on holiday a lot to stay with relations, it is not far from Gatehouse. We loved the the gem museum

The Otter's Pool on the Raiders Road is fab for kids, but don't forget dry clothes. raiders road

Also good is the Mull of Galloway, with lighthouse and lovely cafe. www.galliecraig.co.uk/restaurant-and-meals/2/Galliecraig

On your way there stop off at Logan Botanic Gardens

Have fun!

Cream O Galloway is fantastic - it has a huge adventure playground place which the adults can go on too
Lovely cafe, locally produced meat / ice cream that sort of stuff as well as asmall 'playbarn'

The red kite spotting is good too - you can call at a farm and watch them being fed - not exactly sure where but near Borgue way.

Would second the Raider's road - fabulous picknicking to be had feeding the very tame chaffinches.

We have friends who live near Dalry and it is truly stunning.
Don't forget the mozzie repellent - they'll eat you alive at this time of year

Just back from a lovely break. Cream o' Galloway was brill, we were the only family on the 'tasting tour' and got to taste 11 flavours - heaven! Never made it to the Raider's Road, though I did fancy it. We also went to the Wildlife Sanctuary nedar Kirkudbright wihc was also great. Thanks for recommendations
