We are thinking of going to cadbury world on thursday. we will be coming from manchester.

not sure how long we can spend at cadbury but we are planning to stay overnight nearby so need some other places to visit to make it worth the drive!

can anyone suggest anything. ds are 11 and 8.

science museum in birmingham city centre is great. its not called the thinktank and is right in the city centre. Perfect for kids of your age.

are you planning to do something on the friday or both on the same day? you might find both on the same day a bit much as you can spend quite a lot of time at cadbury world.

it is called the thinktank!

Cadbury World takes a couple of hours at most. If you then drive down the pershore Road for about 2 miles you will come to the Nature Centre, which is free and v nice. here To do Cadbury World AND ThinkTank would work out very expensive.

If you're staying overnight, it might be worth going here on the Friday if the weather is nice - there is plenty to do; should occupy you for most of the day and the fish and chips are lovely!

The black county musuem is a little far but it is good - it is a living musuem.

The Sealife centre in Brum centre is also good, but expensive. The musuem in Birmimgham is also good.

You can also do a canal boat ride round the canels in the centre.

I'd also recommend the Black Country Museum, it's a much better use of your money than Cadbury World, in my opinion.

The Nature Centre is only free for children, although it doesn't cost very much for adults (couple of pounds each at most). There's also the Botanical Gardens not too far from there.

Just around from the corner from Cadbury World is Selly Manor, which is a couple of interesting buildings (if your kids like that sort of thing!).

My experience was that Cadbury World isn't worth bothering with but I know others have enjoyed it. ThinkTank is a lot of money for what it is; we had a year's pass for last year but haven't bothered renewing it because many of the exhibits aimed at children of your age are broken or don't work properly. There are other exhibits which are interesting, but it's very pricey for what it is.

If you don't mind going a bit further away, Snibston is better.
