Travelling abroad - Mums with little 'uns BEWARE

My daughter returned to France yesterday after spending her annual holidays withme - As usual I prepared the travel food - for Lily-Mai who is 14months, Salim age 5 and for my lovely daughter Claire driving on her own from Hove to La Perreux sur Marne, France via Dover.
GUESS what SHE WASNT ALLOWED TO TAKE THE BABIES BOTTLES NOR THE MILK - NO SARNIES - NOTHING FOODIE FROM ENGLAND TO FRANCE!!!!!
Due to Foot and Mouth disease! So it is alright for us to eat our meat, milk and other food stuffs here in England, but NOT SAFE for us to eat the same products across the pond!!!! WHY IS THERE NO WARNING, WHY AREN'T WE TOLD ABOUT THIS IN THE NEWS, WHAT IS THE HUSH HUSH ABOUT OUR FOOD SAFETY, WHY ARE WE PUT AT RISK - I AM SO really really - WHAT PRICE IS OUR SAFETY?? So travellers beware - No English food into France! MY POOR GRANDCHILDREN WERE STARVING, YOU TRY CONSOLING A 14MONTH YEAR OLD AND A 5YR OLD - EXPLAIN TO THEM THEY CANT HAVE FOOD - THEIR FAVORITE MARMITE SARNIES, THEIR HAM SARNIES FROM ENGLAND AND TRY. THERE WASNT EVEN ANYTHING SUITABLE ON BOARD SHIP - AND WHAT RIP OFF PROCES THEY ARE TOO. AND FIND SOMEWHERE SUITABLE WHEN DRIVING ALONE WITH 2LITTLE MUNCHKINS!!! THAT IS MY MOAN FOR THE DAY.

Someone posted a warning about this last week, their ferry company had notified them but possibly they would n't have been able to contact everyone especially those mid journey. It was the same last time Foot and Mouth was discovered in UK tbh.

I agree babamum, it is a total over-reaction to the foot and mouth. We usually take picnic food too. If you had known beforehand you could've packed some alternatives. FWIW i hadn't seen anything in the media and only found out through MN.
