Flight or ferry to Crete from Athens?

Has anyone done this and if so would you recommend the ferry or flying? Flights look like they cost around £200 for the both of us whereas the ferry ranges from about £70 to £150 depending on which one you get and how long it takes. We'd only be going one way as we'd be flying home from Crete then.

Have replied to your other thread! We got the boat - we went with Anek to Chania/Souda. We paid for €168 for 2 adults and 2 kids in a four bed outside cabin. Couldn’t fault the ferry or the crossing. Think we sailed around 9pm and arrived around 6am which is a bit of an early start but was fine.
