At what age is it recommended that that a child travels by bus to school?

I’m not sure of the recommended age but have never known a child to travel to school on public transport pre secondary

Edge of London here and children Y5 and Y6 often travel to school by bus.
Certainly when they start secondary, most will use train and/or bus.

Depends on the child, but 8-9 seems reasonable - the age at which I travelled alone & co-incidentally so did my son.
A trial run or two with a parent to ensure they know where to get on/off is essential of course.

When I was a kid, 8yos were common.
