What to do in Bilbao with children?

I'd really like to go to Bilbao to visit the Guggenheim. 2 DC 5 and 8 will be coming. Planning to stay 4 nights. Is there anything in Bilbao to do with children?

Bilbao is quite compact - easy to walk around. Boat trip is good.its a gorgeous city.
I'd look at staying a couple of days on the coast - San Sebastián or Hondarribia. You can get a wee ferry over to Hendaye in France from Hondarribia . Nice beach in San Sebastián and a climb up to the statue a good way to spend a few hours.

Thank you. The DC would enjoy a boat trip :)
I'll have a look in to everything you've suggested

We've been here with similar age children, the funicular is a great idea, at the top is a park, green space and an outdoor pool (depending on the time of year you go!) Outside of the Guggenheim is a play area with a huge spiders web climbing frame, lots of families hang out here. Plentzia beach is lovely and can be found easily by metro (30 mins ish) we did the football stadium tour too last time.

I just googled the funicular, that looks good. Going in April during Easter holidays so not sure what the weather will be like

Next to the Guggenheim is the Campa de los Ingleses which has some fantastic play equipment and is a lovely place to take a break after a visit to the museum. There are rope walks, slides, frames and swings to suit all ages.
The Maritime Museum is one of the best for kids in Bilbao. There’s lots of space for them to play, as well as many interactive exhibits and large ships to see and climb onto.
The Getxo Aquarium is in the small town of Getxo along the coast. It takes about 40 minutes to reach on public transport from the centre and it’s well worth a visit.

thank you. @Ricekrispie22 is it a bus to get to the aquarium?

From Bilbao, take metro Line 1 to Neguri, Aiboa, Algorta or Bidezabal metro stations.

Algorta is good, long walks along the beach, big playground next to the metro.
