Resorts within 3 hours of Hong Kong

We’re going to HK next year and want to tie it in with a few days somewhere else. We’ll have 2 and 4 year olds with us so a beach would be good, with a bit of culture for us. Ideally we’d like the flight from HK to be no longer than 3 hours. Does anyone have any experience or ideas? Budget is max £200 a night for the hotel.

What time of year?

This is important as lots of places nearby will have different wet seasons.

Hoi An in Vietnam if in June /July?

Kota Kinabalu
Cambodia - Sihanoukville for the beach, but lots of development so beach at Otres one or two would be quieter

Macau is cheap and fun.

Hoi An will be good weather at Easter.

Stay by the beach, take the hotel shuttle or taxi into the Old Town in the evening.

Lots of great things to do: Boatvtrip on the river, My Som, fabulous food.

Hoi An is a good option or Hainan Island and Cebu has some lovely resorts and beaches.

Sanya, Hainan as Traveller104 says, Yalong Bay has the best beach. You’ll be able to buy a package from HK including flight, hotel & transfers. There’s a small rainforest close by and monkeys, international 5* hotels - all very doable from HK & short flight away.
Macau’s alright but it’s the Las Vagas of Asia. I’d recommend the Parisienne if you do consider it as they had fresh cinnamon rolls at the breakfast buffet and a great swimming pool. Macau is a short boat or bridge crossing from HK. The Venetian hotel had a 1 Star Michelin Indian restaurant which you could use your breakfast token with which was yum!
Hội An is, as folks said above, flippin’ awesome. We’ve stayed in town and travelled to the beach though. Fly into Da Nang & then a 40 minute taxi cab.

4 seasons nam Hoi near hoi an is amazing

Why not try somewhere like Sanya? China’s Hawaii. Beautiful place, great weather and the Atlantis resort has some great deals.
