Last minute deals - do they exist?

Good evening I'm hoping for some advice, we want to have an abroad all inclusive holiday for our 10 year anniversary August 2021 we would need to save and budget according (family of 4)

Would we be best saying "right let's save 3/4k" and then look online/in store nearer the time for a last minute deal?
Or should we look and book?
We're not fussy where but would like at least 4 * and ability to leave the resort?

I'd book as early as possible... I really don't see a huge number of good deals last minute for August. I normally book at least a year in advance and it always works out cheapest option. If package don't need to pay majority till few months prior so can save

If you want to travel in school holidays and want a choice of holidays in your budget, book when you find something you like - the main travel companies allow you to pay a low initial deposit so you don't need the full payment until about 10 weeks before you travel.

Late deals are due to more availability than demand, so fine if you don't mind the night flights, or off-peak or hotels that won't necessarily tick all your boxes.

Use prices available now for August 2020 to get an idea of what your budget will get you.

1 or 2 people, flexible with dates, not worried about flight times or destination - last minute deals can be found.

4 people, need school holidays and have a few specific choices that will make the holiday more enjoyable for specific age groups - probably get the beat deal booking as early as possible

Agree with PP. Flights go up. End off.
So unless you want a last minute deal that will be a package to somewhere there hasn’t sold ( think about why that might be) then think again.
Book flights somewhere nice ASAP. . Reasearch AI hotels, book one. Job done..

I agree with PP. I had a friend who was a travel agent and she always told us that last minute deals were just the holidays that no one else wanted and usually for good reason.
Book ahead with low deposit and pay it off in instalments.

There are great cheap minute deals. They are all from Aberdeen airport because no one can get there in less than 6 hours; to somewhere stupidly quiet in the suburbs or in the the Daily Mail for its fatalities as a party town that has balconies in its hotels,
Most tour opertors have sussed the market well to avoid cost cutting. They have the right holidays ya meet demand .Dincr majority of people hook flights, taxis/buses and hitels themselves.
