Gran Canaria in December

Is it worth going for some winter sun - or will we be disappointed? Average temps are okay ... trying to avoid a long haul trip. TIA

We've been in December to Mogan and the weather was pleasant. Think it was in the high 70's most days, plenty of sunshine and warm enough for lots of sunbathing.

I think it's the southern part of the island that gets the best weather in the winter months.

Yes you will get warm sunshine. A heated pool is best and it can turn cool at night but for a shot of winter sun anywhere in the Canaries is good.

Well I'm in gran canaria atm and it's 30 degrees. Can't see it dropping to ridiculous temps in the next month. Where are you looking at staying.?

We got good advice when booking tenerife for Jan. Don't go for high buildings as they will cast a shadow over the pool and keep it cooler - go for bungalow type height accommodation.

Radisson Blu looks very nice and more affordable just before Christmas than Feb half term.

I went last year at the end of Nov to Peurto Morgan. Daily temperatures were 21-25 degrees, never got any higher. Didn't get a tan but it was nice to have the sun on our skin, and kids loved the heated pool. Sea was warm enough to swim in. On an evening we needed jackets, but my girls were still in dresses, we weren't particularly wrapped up.
