We are going away half board, planning to upgrade once at the hotel..has anyone done this before if so how much roughly we looking at extra? I know it will vary each hotel but just want a rough idea how much we looking at..

No one can answer that without knowing the hotel!

I upgraded a room recently by emailing the hotel before I left. I might have got a free upgrade (as per useless travel agent!) but was quite set on an ocean view so paid the upgrade fee.

It obviously depends on the hotel and what you're hoping to upgrade from and to - also worth considering if sold out it might not be possible at all. What is the price difference between the options on the hotel's website?
