We want to go to Greece next year. Looked at skiathos but the ferry looks like a ball ache. We prefer villa to hotel (must have a pool), walking distance to bars and restaurants and ideally a beach. We’ll hire a car so some places to explore too. Can you recommend anywhere? If BA fly there then all the better.

Not much help sorry OP Skiathos is lovely but pricey we visited many years ago pre children. Also wondering about Greece this year for a holiday with teens prob won’t hire a car so need/want a decent sized pool and close to a beach for teens and restaurants and tavernas within easy walking distance. I have been looking on Jet2 and TUI at accommodation in Kefalonia, Corfu and Halkidiki but going around in circles. Hopefully by my replying this might encourage others to reply.

Crete all the way, Marni is superb!!

nordstrom · 20/10/2019 21:55

We flew directly to Skiathos. Are there no flights any more?

nordstrom · 20/10/2019 21:56

Lovely btw.

Jet2 fly to direct to Skiathos but maybe depends where op lives & whether or not they are restricted with dates/days holidays etc.

Hi, yes we stayed at Marni Village. Beautiful location, we stayed in an apartment but they also had private villas with pools. We love it there!

@Lillipops how old are your DC please and do you hire a car?
I have never visited Crete but wondered whether it would be ok for a 15/16 year
Olds?

How old are the DC? We loved Santorini, but there isn't much there for children. It would be good for teens and older. Lots (and lots and lots) of walking so they'd need to be prepared for that. And I say that having hired a car there.

Most famili

Most families seemed to base themselves in Kamari (restaurants and hotels right on the beach), but the Instagram money shots are in Oia, which is literally the other end of the island. About a half an hour drive away. Oia and Fira (capital in roughly the centre of the island) are where all the walking is. All pedestrianised streets. There isn't much in Kamari past hotels and restaurants, so no walking required.

We had a lovely holiday in Tigaki in Kos a couple of months ago. It ticked all the right boxes for us - nice pool, beach, fabulous tavernas, a short bus ride to Kos town, and a really interesting boat trip to a volcanic island. I wish we had hired a car as the traffic was very quiet.

I’ve travelled Greece pretty extensively as I have friends living there.

My favourite places were Kos, Kefalonia and Lefkada. I did a fair bit of sailing around Greece a few years back which gave us a good opportunity to explore.

We've been on sailing holidays in Greece for the past few years, it's a great way to explore different islands and towns and we love it.

We did a sail to shore a couple of years back , one week on a yacht and the second week at a hotel in Parga which had rooms and villas with private pools. The hotel was lovely and there was a free shuttle bus down into Parga town throughout the evening where there are plenty of bars and restaurants for the evening and a beach with water sports and sunbeds during the day. It's really pretty and there is something for everyone.

We visited Skiathos, Stoupo, Corfu, Kos, Rhodes and Kefalonia prechildren but wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere the teenagers might enjoy (Age 15/16). Thanks
