Hi, we have a special anniversary coming up. Would love to go longhaul, thinking Asia but no idea where.
Not tied to dates but hoping to go August onwards.
Need sandy beach and hot weather, Dh doesn't want to hire car but happy to do 'trips' so not stuck in hotel and can see local area.
We are in our 50's so it will be just us. Like good food, happy to go b and b so can eat out. Would rather book through travel agents as not confident to book by myself.
Please tell me where to look....thanks 🙂

Asia in August isn't the best time to go. Very hot and humid.

Not necessarily to go in August just from then onwards.

The thing with Asia is you're dates are slap bang in monsoon season - in Thailand the wettest months are kind of August - October.

Food in Asia is super cheap, it makes more sense to eat out than to go to the supermarket.

I think koh samui might be ok for your dates (they have a weird island microclimate, which means that it rains slightly less there). It has some beautiful beaches, there are a couple of things to see but not a huge amount.

I'd suggest going to a travel agent with your budget, available dates, and listen to what they can offer you

Errr Asia is a big continent and not just Thailand Hmm
August is not monsoon season in Malaysia or Bali for example and is a good time to visit

From end October onwards Phuket has good weather and some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. And i've seen a lot. Some amazing hotels too. I would recommend Bang Tao, Layan and Kamala beaches. Food options plentiful and at all budgets.

I think it’s a massive shame to go all that way snd see very little of the country you are in. Flying long haul in economy is fairly horrible. So just visiting a beach resort doesn’t seem worth it to me I’m afraid.

I would definitely stay in Bangkok if you go to Thailand for example. I would therefore see if you can do a tour or visit a city in any country you choose, then stay at the beach resort. At least you would understand more of the country you are visiting.

Lankawi in Malaysia is beautiful. TUI do winter packages there.

Agree with happychange - it's not monsoon season in Malaysia, Bali, Java etc, parts of Vietnam will also have decent weather then - Hoi An for example.
Bali is very easy and you could combine Ubud with a beach resort and perhaps add in Singapore too.
Malaysian Borneo - combine with KL. KL is a hub for air Asia so lots of good value flights. Kota Kinabalu offers you beach resorts and some great day trips to Mt Kinanbalu, national park etc.
Hoi An in Vietnam - beach at An bang, lovely old town, fab restaurants and if you want a larger resort there's Danang or perhaps Nha Trang. Combine with some time in Hanoi or HCMC.
