I think i'm being stupid but-Exactly what are you entitled to take with you? I know dd doesn't have a baggage allowence so what and how do you take? Can you have extra hand luggage?

You can take a pram and a car seat. You still can only have one piece of hand luggage.

It depends on the airline - some give a small baggage allowance to infants
They are usually entitled to one piece of hand luggage too

Plus pram/buggy & car seat

does anyone know if they allow a travel cot as well?

Tups · 20/08/2007 15:42

you are best to check on the BAA website and also phone the airline that you are flying with to double check to avoid any problems when you get to the airport.
All airports seem to be doing diffeent things at the moment and it is really confusing the hell out of everyone! Especially me!

I was told by First Choice that the travel cot would count as part of hold luggage allowance.
Saying that when ds wasnt allocated any allowance (last year) we didnt find it a problem packing, we just took all his stuff and shared it out between the other 3 cases. Even this year he didnt have a suitcase, we still only took 3 even though we were allowed 4 (and I am NOT a light packer I need lots of shoes, all my clothes and hairdryer straighteners etc)

We flew with First Choice to Cyprus in May. We 'could' have taken a travel cot, buggy & car seat without using any of our luggage allowance. It said on the sign on the counter where they list the charges for xs baggage - travel cot - free etc.

I always take one piece of hand baggage per person (have flown three times since new restrictions) with no problems. In fact, I've taken my P&T through to departures with pannier bags on, which I've later removed and taken on the plane, so in effect I could have had even more pieces of hand luggage.

I have a couple of those big reusable bags from Tesco (the sort of woven material ones), and I just jam all our little bags into one of those, should anyone ever query the number of bags we have. They do fit into the size guidelines.

Also - they've been really strict on fluids, but not on what is in babies bottles - have seen lots of people with coffee/coke in bottles and flip-top cups. However, DS1's sports bottle wasn't allowed through. I'd take all the drinks you want in bottles to be on the safe side.
