Club Med

Hi I'm thinking of taking DD2, DSiL and 2 x DDGSs (ages 7 and 4) on a Club Med half term hol to Portugal next February. I can't find out whether flights are included in the all-inclusive price (which is already eye boggling) or if other Mumsnetters have better short haul all inclusive hol suggestions please.

When you search for a club med quote there is a box where you either select a departure airport or no transport if you are making your own travel arrangements. I think club med are a good all inclusive option but I haven’t been to that one. I went to Vila vita parc Algarve in February half term with ba holidays which was a nice hotel but not all inclusive and did not have children’s clubs at that time of year. I liked Portugal in February it was sunny and just about t shirt weather and the beaches were empty.

We did Club Med once but just for few days - normally you select with or without transport as an option. Often the prices are incredibly high but played around with dates and got about £200 a night when I did it a few years back, some dates it was more like £4,000 a week. I have a feeling it was a lot cheaper through French ClubMed site than UK one. It was almost 100% French people at one we went to, good food, very good on sports, most people were putting kids in kids clubs from 8am to 8pm everyday and going off to play sports. Wasn't for us but nice hotel and sports facilities.

Closest I've been to Portugal is Portomare/Portobay in Maderia, not AI but all meals available on site which was nice though better to have car some days at least.
