Hi, I took my son there a couple of years ago when he was 4. It was great. Family friendly. This time of year will be hot, so ensure lots of suncream, hat, water etc. Dont be terrified of the heat. Beach is really nice. Try and visit Matmata, down south where Star wars was filmed and visit to the Sahara, ride a camel etc. Port El Kantaoui a lovely harbour good restaurants etc. Get a cheap guide book and enjoy! Happy hols!

We had a great holiday there a few years ago. Port El Kantaoui great for stroll etc. We went out of season though so no advice re heat etc.

One or two words of warning, PLEASE don't let them put you off...like I said, we ahd a great time.
DO not go with anyone who tells you they are the brother of your hotel's chef etc...it is a con and they want to sell you gold jewellery. Hold on to your suitacases when you arrive in airport/coach depot - not becaus ethey will eb stolen but because if someone gets hold of them they will carry them for you then expect payment.
The hotel will probably offer you "bouka" ( sp?) it is their version of vidka, made with prunes..it tastes FOUL.

and it never hurts to dress modestly - no-one will actually comment if you go out in a miniskirt and bikini top but you will get a lot more respect in linen trous/skirt and a tunicy kaftanny top.
Plus you'll be a lot more comfortable in the heat.

Tunisia is lovely, I've been twice. Stayed in Sousse the first time, a few miles down the road from PEK...you must go there, there's a noddy train you can get between PEK and Sousse am sure your ds would love it. Haggle with the prices a lot...they expect it. I dressed modestly too, always wore a long skirt and kaftan if going into town and the local people were so much friendlier than they were to people dressed less appropriately. There's lots to look around in Sousse (there's a Ribat you can go to the top of - big tower type thing).

Eat at local places rather than hotel (unless your All inclusive) as the food there is fab and very cheap.
