Flights to Costa Rica- Cheap

Is there a way to get to Costa Rica for less than BA £1000 economy over the summer?

Ideally I'd like to fly One World as I want to use avios to upgrade. I've considered flying to say Miami for a night and then onwards

Depends what you term as summer. I bought return flights for 3 for £1600 direct from Gatwick but we're going out on 27th June.

I did consider various stopover options - have you looked at skyscanner? They had some interesting route ideas if you're prepared to be flexible on a stopover.

Via Madrid or the US might be cheaper.

TUI do direct flights to Costa Rica - Liberia rather than SJ - £810 return direct last 2 weeks of August for flights only.

Or Skyscanner, indirect.

I flew BA via Miami - for about £600 (but this was in Feb). London to Miami was with BA - then Miami to San Jose was with AA. The turnaround in Miami was 2.5 hours

We’re flying with Air France via Paris for about £480 return including luggage, that’s over May half term rather than summer holidays though (and having just had a quick look on sky scanner it would appear the summer holidays are a lot more expensive than May half term).

BA have some dates much cheaper than £100. These are return prices, from London to SJ in economy.

£1000 even!
