When can I expect to hear from Loveholidays (re TC)?

Hi all. I have booked a package holiday for next July, through Loveholidays, and the flights are with Thomas Cook.
LH emailed on Monday, to say that they will be contacting all affected customers, by email, in date order of departure. Fair enough. However I'm worried that if it's left much longer, I'll have to cancel the holiday, as alternative flights will have become too expensive (single parent of 3 here).
I went to use their live chat, but it says on the website there's no need to contact them.
So would anyone happen to know when I can expect to hear from them?
Many thanks.

Can’t imagine anyone can answer this. Sadly your holiday is the best part of a year away and focus will be on sorting the thousands of people who go before you - October school holidays will have been a particularly busy period and then Christmas.

It can take 6 months to get a refund via ATOL. Did you pay on credit card? Can you speak to the, for advice and see if you can get a clawback?

I totally appreciate that, but at the moment I don't know if we're talking days, weeks or months ... and it would be good to get a clearer idea of when I might hear Smile

Sorry but you're probably way down the queue and I'd imagine it might not even be until next year.

One thing to consider with holidays well into next year is that other airlines may take over the routes/slots that have been lost (this happened when Monarch went bust) so there could be a flight at the same time on the same day from the same airport available, just that it hasn't all been sorted out yet.

I suppose the sensible thing to do would be to allow all people who have lost a TC flight to be able to travel on the new operator's flight for the same price, but I don't know if that level of joined up thinking is possible.

But the comforting thing is that you will get your money back due to ATOL protection, so you will have money available to book a holiday, but it might take some creative thinking to get something similar for a similar price.

But it might not be good to panic and want to sort it now because prices are high, due to high demand.

But it might be worth looking on somewhere like jet2holidays or similar from Easyjet/BA to see if there is a suitably priced replacement, especially if you can book on a credit card, or take advantage of a payment plan meaning you don't have to pay for it all until much nearer the time of the holiday.

I expect several weeks at least, their priority will be Summer 2019 departures (technically summer 19 lasts until 31October in tour operator land) , then Winter 19/20 departures. Summer 2020 will be a while off.
