Can anyone recommend a really good restaurant in West Dorset?

I'm looking to have a weekend in Weymouth with some girlfriends, to celebrate one of their 40ths. Can anyone recommend somewhere please (we like our food and drink )?

I did look at River Cottage HQ, but £85 seems a little steep for a meal out that I suspect will be overly commercialised (although I'm happy to be convinced otherwise ).

I fyou are prepared to go to Westbay then there is a great restairaunt there, havent' been but always getting reviews in papers, think its the Riverside Restauraunt, www.fishrestaurant-westbay.co.uk. also a friend reccommended me to the small restauraunt on the right hand side just before you go over the causeway to Portland, she took her husband there fo his birthday and it is very relaxed with the freshest fish, oysters etc, also sells oystres

I've been there QoB, it's fabulous. I hadn't thought of going there. The only thing is that it's a bit of a trek from Weymouth. MAybe we could do posh lunch instead of evening out...

I swam in Weymouth twice this week. Gorgeous beach but not great for eating out. How about Poundbury in Dorchester? There are a couple of good places there apparently.

how about moonfleet manor, its a family luxury hotel but the restaurant looks good. They also do pamper days. I am due to move to Poundbury soon, not sure where the other poster meant, only a couple of cafes there though one does food in the evenings.

sandbanks, www.cafeshore.co.uk. Sopposed to be one of the best around that area though there is a better choice than Weymouth.
