i have started to wean and i am not sure what to do about feeding him. I have been making my own purees, and didnt really want to start on the jars.... but also if i do start with the jars, do you take enough for the whole holiday??? we dont have much luggage allowance as the car seat/buggy classes and one piece of luggage... any ideas???

You can buy jars there, lol - although check for salt/sugar/chocolate etc content. Are you staying in a hotel or sc - you could just mash up some veg from your plate or buy fresh banana , soft fruits and so on.

Don't get meningitis like I did when dd was 5 1/2 months old. Think about what formula milk (if you use it) your little one has as iirc they were all different. Not that your lo couldn't use a different one for a bit. DD was fully breastfed and wouldn't take a bottle at all.

I ahve weaned both my dcs in France and Spain!!! In France for dd we were s/c so I just bought the veg and pureed it myself. Took formula and baby rice from home then added fruit n veg. Took my little hand held blitzer thing with me, but to be honest jars won't kill and they're handy on holiday! Take your formula with you - I had no probs on a plane with an extra bag containing 2 tins when we took ds to Menorca. I bought jars, wipes, nappies over there which were cheaper in both countries!! As my gp said to me, french and spanish baies seem to survive....

He also recommended NOT using mineral water for bottles as mineral content is too high, he said best to se tap water, oil n cool as you do at home. I did that with both of my dcs and they were fine, no tummy bugs.

BUT interestingly there is a formula brand which tells you to use Evian water!
