Hi
So I'm after suggestions to take myself and my 10 year old away for a few days. .
Live in Lancashire, near Blackpool (so not there)
I've just no idea where to go and what sort of trip to try.
Done a few of the Haven caravan parks throughout the country but want something different.
I drive but have never driven long trips, on the motorway especially, however I'm willing to try.
Happy to also take the train. (New for me also) Blush

Isle of Man might be different - ferries from Liverpool and Heysham. or ferry or short flight Dublin or Belfast? Tell us more about things that would interest you.

What about Youth Hostelling ?
Lake District maybe, if don't want to travel too far, but the world is your oyster one you get the bug.

What do you and him like to do?
Train to London for free museums and stay at a premier Inn?
Train to Edinburgh for same? Less free options but their is some..
Same for York but very little free options...

I pressume you want to stay in Britain? I priced up me and 2 children to Edinburgh and ended up going to Portugal for same price... But that was probably because we had a random Easter holiday when most were still in school...

I’ve taken my son to London for theatre and overnight stays before. But I usually do it in August during the free kids tickets.

Newcastle? Centre for life, discovery museum, quayside stuff. Get the metro to the coast for fish and chips by the beach?

Whitby. It's gorgeous. Loads to do.

Are you willing to go abroad? I took my 10y DD to Amsterdam this May and we had a great time, lots of things to do and see.

York. There’s loads to do that would interest a 10yo boy:
