I'm off to Tampere for a week in November, competing in a figure skating competition and then having a bit of a holiday after. I'm going self catering on the advice of friends who are also going and have been before.
Any advice on things to do, other places I can visit by train or ferry, tips for food shopping (I'm guessing I'll be able to get hold of the basics but are there any things you recommend or that are hard yo find? ) and other general advice would be much appreciated.

Tampere is great! There's plenty of food shops/supermarkets in the centre and a big covered market called Kauppahalli. There's the Moomin exhibition and the theme park with the tower that has amazing views over the lakes and a (pricey) revolving restaurant at the top. The Fazer cafe is nice and there are a few outdoor type museums with old Finnish buildings giving history of the area.

Turku is lovely, if you can get a train there.

Anyone know of any transfer or taxi firms to get from the airport to my accommodation?
