Disneyland Paris - character meals / restaurant bookings

Hi hoping to pick people's brains about DLP again....going in December with dss (baby and toddler). Appreciate toddler may not be keen on character breakfasts etc but wondered whether that aside people thought they were worth doing and if so which ones? Anyone been to Cafe Mickey in particular?
Also - do the restaurants really get that busy that booking in advance is necessary? I just find it hard to contemplate where we will be at a particular time!
thanks in advance

We went to one on Main Street, can't remember the name of the restaurant but perhaps Walts. ds loved it -he's 6 - the characters came and made a fuss of him and he loves breakfasts at restaurants anyway. But dd then 2 3/4 hated every minute of it. She ate nothing and screamed the entire time because she didn't like the oversized characters so for her a complete waste. Apologies to anyone who was trying to have a nice breakfast in the same sitting! Also Chip (or was it Dale) got a bit fresh with me! I thought some of them a bit rough with the small kids at close range. The food was ok though. You do get access into the park earlier if you eat inside at 8am so can get on some of the more popular rides first and without queuing.

Definitely recommend booking a table if it is remotely busy - I speak as one who had to trawl around the whole resort and the hotels trying to scrounge a table before 10pm having left the park at 6.30pm on a Friday evening. You can do it in the morning for the evening but the popular ones may still be sold out. Buffalo Bill's was a hit but again book in advance.

Yeah, do tell, the mind boggles

We didn't go to Cafe Mickey, but there were lots of characters on the balcony there waving to everyone, so that might be a cheap option! I have a feeling that you do need to book, it's amazing how busy it gets. Have a lovely time!

Had my 39th birthday at Cafe Mickey last year complete with gooey pineapple cake. Kids still talk about it. It was busy but I'd booked - I reckoned a reasonably early time would suit us and get us out and about early. As far as I can remember buffet was quite good but coffee not up to much. We saw Minnie, Goofy and lots of others. I remember other people turning up on spec and not being able to get tables.
