How much would you pay for BA Premium Economy

14/15hr direct flight to Santiago de Chile.

Upgrade on the way our from Economy to Premium Economy is £400. I won’t pay that.

On the way home, however, the cost is £150.

I’ve only ever flown Business or Premium Economy so the flight out will be my first time in Econ... sounds braggy... but I’m not usually paying (business). This is my first long haul holiday.

I’m deffo going economy on the way out as I can’t justify £400. £150? I’d consider it.

Is it worth it? The flight is an overnight flight, and I do actually need to be rested for work the following days.

Yep. £150 is a bargain to be honest, for such a long flight. You'll be thankful for the legroom and extra recline.

jackparlabane · 01/09/2019 13:09

Was going to say don't bother, but at that little extra, and that long a flight, every little will help you sleep and deal with jet lag.

Ilikewinter · 01/09/2019 13:20

Yes I would, in fact id be paying for both, no way would I want to sit in economy for 15 hours.

inwood · 01/09/2019 13:24

I'd pay the £400

RainOrSun · 01/09/2019 13:26

The 150 is a no brainer.
The 400 is probably borderline.
That said, upgrading both ways would average 275 each way. If you need to function for work at the other end, I'd say yes to both ways.

MozzchopsThirty · 01/09/2019 13:27

Yes I definitely would for that price

I paid that just for extra legroom

CloudRusting · 01/09/2019 13:30

I would pay it yes.

GoneToTheDock · 01/09/2019 13:31

I would for the way home

duffyluth · 01/09/2019 13:37

The £150 - absolutely

The £400 - if I could I certainly would

It's a long flight; even on the Dreamliner, upgrade is well worth it with BA

virilityisbad · 01/09/2019 13:48

Yes, ok think I will go for the upgrade on the way home. Problem is that I am paying for this as a trip for dp, and so an upgrade is both for me and him so costs me double Grin

I'd pay both. Especially if you have any Avios - all 3 of the Y fare buckets are upgradable to Club, so if there's reward availability, it's a very cheap way to a J seat.

virilityisbad · 01/09/2019 19:10

Don’t have enough avios at the moment, but I will have enough for upgrading a different flight I’m taking to Japan in the summer!
