We always buy an annual travel insurance policy as we go away quite a lot/mil lives abroad. We have renewed the same one for several years now as we are nearly always away during October half term and I initially took it out the night before we travelled, so with half term moving it always expires whilst we are away and it seems messy/complicated to be covered by two different insurance policies for one holiday. However, this year we return on the day it expires, so it seems like the perfect opportunity to sort it out and it should be cheaper not to just renew.
Our needs have changed somewhat - each summer DP goes on a cycling holiday whilst I take the DDs away. The DDs and I are covered on our family policy (as am I if I travel alone - I am the policy-holder). However DP has to take out a separate policy as he is not covered to travel alone on our policy. This means that when he travels with us he is insured twice (is this allowed? Should I exclude him from our family policy because he is insured elsewhere?)
It would obviously be better if he could be insured travelling alone on the family policy, but that doesn't seem to be an option to tick when searching.
Any advice on suitable insurance policies/other suggestions?
