Has anyone used the new BA basic faree?

Looking at long-haul for next summer and the basic price is £30 less per person on the way out and £40 on the way back.

The main differences as far as I can see are no hold luggage- this is fine as we'd be restricted on some bits of the trip to minimal luggage anyway and no free seat allocation- which I don't think you get in standard economy anyway.

We might want to pay for seats on the overnight return flight - DS is 14 so could cope anyway - but other than that it seems ok.

Has anyone used it themselves? Oh and I do have reservations about flying with BA but they are the most obvious carriers for our route.

How long will you be away for?.

My brother's used basic on BA but mainly for short haul.

How much is the fee in Basic to add a checked bag and or get a reserved seat for each of you?. If that is close to £140 total I would seriously consider going for a standard economy fare instead.

Attila we'd be away for a fortnight, but part of the trip involves traveling by boat and there is a 15kg restriction on baggage there anyway. As I say I don't think we absolutely need to be seated together. It's difficult to get the costs for seating and luggage separately as they don't display them for that specific route.
