if it's before oct half term, bowood house near chippenham/calne - fab adventure playground with lots outdoors plus soft play, nice cafe too.

Marlborough? The leisure centre down by the College has a softplay area which is ideal for that age group. Also plenty of places to eat. If you're up to it and just want somewhere to let off steam Avebury is not too far - you could wander around the stones for some time and then head off to M'Bro for something to eat.

Spent a little time around Lambourn, just east of Swindon, loads of horses including a chalk one carved out of the hill side above Uffington, worth a look and great countryside. If you are there AM you can watch the horses on the gallops, any 2 yo would love it!

The factory outlets in Swindon (next to the station) have a really good children's play area with a starbucks right next to it where you can grab a cuppa

Cricklade railway - Swindon-Cricklade railway

Having said that, think it might only operate on Sundays or something (check the link above).

STEAM at Swindon - Museum of the Great Western Railway - is well worth a visit. Actually I haven't been, but ds1, ds2, dh, and my mum and dad have all been, boys at the times were ages 1-5, and enjoyed it immensely.

the website is here with full details of opening times, prices etc. You can also get tokens for entry through Tescos vouchers, if you have some and have time to send of for them.

I think it's right by a huge shopping centre, so may be best avoided on Saturdays near Christmas, or alternatively that might appeal if you want to look round shops whilst someone else takes ds to the museum?
