I notice that Bodiam is quite expensive to visit as a family, does anybody know of any nice castle not tooooo far from London worth visiting with small kids?

Get membership of national trust or English Heritage, you only need to visit a couple of places a year to get your money worth. We always have NT which gets you into Bodiam and i've just got English heritage with my nectar points, we visited battle abbey last week and it also covers Rochester which is more 'castle like'.

English Heritage better for castles and always great activites for children. We joined last year, think it was about £60 for 15 months family membership (2 adults and up to 6 kids). Has been well worth it.

Hever in Kent is nice - cost about £22 as a family with 2 over 5's for grounds only, abotu £26 to include the castle. We went to the jousting yesterday plus there are 3 mazes(including a wet water one !) and an adventure playground. Take a picnic and some ball games, lots of space in the gardens.
