Car Hire at Are Ostersund airport

Anybody got any tips for next February half term?
We’ll be 2 adults and 2 children with a ski bag and 3 other bags/cases.
Several companies are saying nothing available and others are quoting in excess of £700 for a week!

I'd check different companies online, they usually show you directly what's available during the time you want. Much easier than calling or e-mailing.

You should also check rentals from towns close by, not just from the airport, since they might have much more available there.

Do you really need a car? If you’re and staying near the main ski areas you shouldn’t need a car during the week and you can arrange taxi transfers from the airport (though they won’t be that cheap).

Car hire is generally pretty expensive in Sweden and Ostersund airport is tiny and fairly remote, I can well imagine there’s little available.

We thought we’ll need a car to get the shopping in (big group, self catering) and to explore a bit.
You’re could be right though and it’s probably worth looking at taxi prices too.

There’s a decent ICA supermarket in the centre of Are (and a systembolaget round the corner!) so you should be alright for that. There are some nice excursions you could do with a car (chocolate factory, frozen waterfall, husky sledding etc) so it depends how important that is to you.
