Can anyone recommend somewhere lovely to stay, places to visit, any good restaurants etc. We're going in September.

Have been to Stockholm. Hotel Tegnerlunden was nice and near centre, extremely good breakfasts, best choice I've ever seen.

To visit - boat trips on archipelago of varying durations, the Old Town (Gamla Stan), Skansen (open air museum and zoo)

Trying to decide which city I'd prefer. I think Stockholm has the edge though.
I've been looking at the Mr&MrsSmith hotels, but fear we may not be cool enough to stay at one of those.

We've just come back from Stockholm and loved it. Ou dd (5) was with us and we still had a good time evem though we couldn't really go into the nice bars and cafes that were just for adults. In fact I would recoomend Stiockholm as a city break with children - lots of parks and swimming pools.
We found it expensive but made plans to go back next year. As my sister lives in very tiny village way north of Stockholm there's a good chance we'll be passing through again.

Skansen was great and I loved the ferries.
There's been other posts about where to stay in Stockholm in the last couple of months- I found them by using the search facility. One of them had a link to Stockholm's tourist site and you could book rooms through it. Once I found a hotle I liked I booked direct and saved about 40%.

Do get a stockholm card as it gives you free access to the museums and the public transport inclusing ferries - you can get them from 1 day onwards.

Haven't been to Copenhagen but Stockholm is lovely, esp in the summer. Are some fab hotels (the Nordic Light hotels are supposed to be gorgeous). Would suggest you dont stay in Gamla Stan (the Old Town) in the summer, bit touristy.
If you decide to go, post again and I will post some restaurant info etc.

Change of plan. We're going to Bristol instead.
A compromise between here (my choice) and Marrakech (dh's choice).
