Norfolk for me, relatively easy to get to, microclimate and lovely food and beaches.

@Zoflorabore could you tell us the resort name? 😊

notacooldad · 31/08/2019 17:53

Brittany, France when the kids were young every May holiday. Easy to get to, weather was always good and we loved it there. So many happy times.
Also various places in France when the boys were young in February for skiing.

Oslo. I go ever year for a few days in summer. Its lovely.

Berlin with friends. I've been 8 times in 5 years. Brilliant place, always something different and so laid back in most neighbourhood's.

Chamonix, usually in August. We went 9 times for mountain biking. I have a serious love affair with this place!!
Skye. I've 5 times and planning my next trip and DS2 goes with his friends now.Everyone in the family loves it there.
Costa del sol. This was fantastic for family holidays. It's got everything for us, beaches, hiking, mountains near by. I miss going here with the kids!

I do go to new places as well!!!!

The Hawaiian island of Kauai.

Because I love to float motionless above a cleaner wrasse "station" and watch the beautiful tropical fish swoop in for a clean. Not to mention my favourites, the raccoon butterfly fish.

I have seen nearly all of the sea creatures in this Guide:

Gdansk region.. In summer.. Cheap, lovely beaches, nice food, great museums, calm relaxed and things to do with kids if weather is bad.
Rome.. I will never bore of it
Luxor... The level of history blows my mind.
Lisbon and sintra... Fabulous weekend break... As is krakow for very different reasons.
Cala galdana menorca.. Fabulous bay
I love skiathos too...

Bouledeneige · 31/08/2019 20:14

Iceland - we went in the summer and it was fantastic. Kids loved it too.
Japan - it's just mind boggling. Spring or autumn. Definitely would go again.
A tour down the west coast of America from Vancouver down to LA.

borntobequiet · 31/08/2019 20:25

Eastern Algarve (quiet, sunny and pleasant in the off season)
Essaouira, Morocco (relaxed, friendly and warm in winter)
Madeira (wonderful walking and warm in winter)
West Wales, Exmoor and West Cork in the summer, for the walking and scenery.
20 degrees is fine by me. I don’t go south of the UK/Ireland in the summer if I can avoid it.

Grinchly · 31/08/2019 21:03

Northumberland
N w Scotland
Paris
Seville
Marrakesh
Venice ( in the winter)

Grinchly · 31/08/2019 21:05

Oh and Shropshire

Zoflorabore · 01/09/2019 08:40

@TalkingOrmer

Of course :) it's the Aqua Fantasy waterpark hotel and spa.

SophieEThornley · 03/09/2019 09:27

Brittany. We keep
Going back to Emerald Coast Gites at Hénansal. Lesley there has got inside my head and created be easiest and most relaxing holiday possible with kids. The
Coastline is so beautiful, it’s got its own mini climate so warm and the food is great.
My kids never want to go anywhere else.

zafferana · 16/09/2019 19:22

Emerald Coast Gites is lovely! We only went there once though.

Places we've been back to, some of them many times: Paris, Rome, Florence, Venice, New York, Washington DC, San Francisco, Chicago, Orlando - all of them have too much to see in only one visit.

We've returned to a few ski resorts too as when you find a good one it's easy to go back.

More generally, we return again and again to France, Italy and the USA - all of them are so incredibly rich and we never get bored of going back and exploring new corners.

I would love to go back to Brazil and to spend more time in Portugal. I'd also like to visit more of the Canary Islands - I love the year-round sunshine, the sea and the bougainvillea.

fuzzyduck1 · 28/09/2019 03:27

Been to so many places but would go back to

Thailand because they are always smiling and each place I’d different

Borneo for the true deserted tropical islands.

AdoreTheBeach · 28/09/2019 04:01

I love Cornwall and Devon. Have been multiple times and plan to go again. We enjoy going to little villages, beauty spots, restaurants etc.

Loved santorini and plan to go again but staying in a different location. When we went, with teens, they wanted beach. So we’ll go again but justvus and stay more central.

We have been twice to one hotel resort. Only place we went twice to same hotel. Club Lykia World Aliu Dinez (spelling??). Absolutely fabulous for children and families. First time with children ages 5 and 1, then again 5 years later.

Been to Paris a number of times and well, it’s paris. Much to do.see, experience. Will go again and again.

Mothership4two · 28/09/2019 04:13

Would go back to the Isle of Scilly again and again and again if I could afford it. It's beautiful, friendly and has pretty much a zero crime rate.

Devon, Cornwall and the Western Isles - beautiful and scenic.

Travelled all around Italy, again beautiful, food delicious, culture and people friendly

Malaysia for same reasons as Italy

Canada - dramatic scenery and general friendliness

CarolDanvers · 28/09/2019 06:15

Benalmadena - Costa Del Sol. My children love it and it honestly feels like a second home. The hotel we stay in is set away from the main town and faces a beautiful beach. Great transport links and we have friends there now. More of a family and couples feel rather than partying singles.

Clearwater - Florida Gulf coast. Peaceful, stunning, amazing wildlife. I'd live there if I could.

MonnaLisa · 28/09/2019 09:02

Goa! I look Indian and when I went to India I felt right at home!! If I didn't look so much like my dad I'd say that's something my parents are not telling me. It's a difficult country but the mentality, the philosophy, the wisdom and way of life really appeals to me.

Venice. I am Italian (not from Venice) and cant get over how beautiful it is. You've got to go in November, when it's cold and foggy and there is no one. Move out of the tourist track, go to an osteria, drink wine, chat, chill. Be happy.

MonnaLisa · 28/09/2019 09:04

@Mothership4two thank you for praising Italy!! Like India, politically and socially a difficult country but some of us are friendly and nice Smile I used to work in tourism in Italy and loved meeting people from all over the world.

MaidenMotherCrone · 28/09/2019 09:42

We really love all the firsts you experience when you go somewhere new which is why we don't tend to return to places often. If we do it's for a specific reason.

Iceland..... really want go back to see the lights which we haven't managed yet.... but we will!

Florence.....to replace our lovelock on the Ponte Vecchio.

At home.

My happy place is about 20 mins from Oban, Ardmaddy Estate. I've been 3 times but will never get to go again for various reasons. For me it's the most beautiful place ever.

I can highly recommend Baska Voda on the Dalmatian Coast in Croatia. It's rather lovely!

HystericalSnowflake · 30/09/2019 10:24

Cyprus. Go every summer, been twice this year. Wouldn't waste money going somewhere else, tried other places and didn't like

buttermilkwaffles · 30/09/2019 23:47

In Europe, would love to go back to or have already visited more than once:

Seville
Granada
Porto
Montpellier
Lyon
Krakow

Would go also go back to Tatra mountains and French Alps, but would probably go to different areas so I can do walks I haven't already done (but would be tempted to redo walks I did in bad weather again in better weather or at a different time of year).

Usually prefer going to new places (so many to see) as love having somewhere I have never been before to explore, so have to really like somewhere a lot to want to visit more than once.

Mothership4two · 01/10/2019 01:45

@MonnaLisa

Italy definitely has its problems (don't we all!) but we love it. We went there for our honeymoon and eldest ds was conceived there. It is such a beautiful country. We have always found people incredibly helpful and kind from big cities to really rural areas. Can't wait to go back one day
