Will it be too hot to do anything other than lie on the beach? Hoping to do a bit of trekking in Khao Sok National Park and try a spot of climbing at Railay beach but worried that the it will just be too sweltering!

I've been

Night markets
Temples (wear long sleeves, long skirt)
Island hopping
Delicious food
Plenty of places advertise excursions
Yes it's hot, sun cream, hat, cover up, hydrate
Check if it's water festival time, Songkran

it's always f*cking hot in Thailand, so just check for rainy season for that time of year in the location you're interested in.

I live in Thailand and yes, it is hot then! The only time it gets a bit cooler is Dec-Feb but Christmas is an expensive time to fly.

It's not rainy season then, though this does vary a bit depending where you are so double check.

A PP mentioned a water festival (Songkran)... this is a GREAT festival! Water fights in the street and Hawaiian shirts everywhere! Can be a shock if you're not expecting it (and will affect prices as it is the biggest holiday in the Thai calendar as it's their New Year) but if you're coming around that time, I would try to be here foe that.

How you'll cope with the weather depends... trekking might be tough but not if that's your thing. It's the humidity rather than the actual temperature that really affects you. I would definitely plan a few days to chill and adjust to the heat before doing anything much. And it is ALWAYS worth paying extra for a/c, even if you're intending to slum it a bit.

Railay is v good for climbing!
